Personal Description:

My name is Cameron , and I am a professional keyboard player specialising in contemporary styles including Jazz, Rock, Blues, Funk and Soul, as well as music theory and production. I started playing the piano aged 8 and have been passionate about music ever since.

After working through the ABRSM Classical and Jazz grades, I studied Music and Music Tech A-levels at college. I was tutored by highly regarded industry professionals such as Brian Henry (Soul II Soul, Mica Paris) and Frank Tontoh (Amy Winehouse, George Michael) at the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford, where I achieved a 2:1 in Professional Music Performance (BMus).

I have over ten years of experience providing piano lessons to people of all ages and abilities, in person, in schools and online. Companies I've worked for include Open2Music and Private Music Lessons UK.

I produce many of my own documents to aid learning, and use methodical but fun teaching methods. One guide I've written is entitled 'Essential Music Theory', and features information about scales, chords, progressions, melodic features, improvisation and ear training. With a diverse knowledge of subjects such as music culture/history and technology, I aim to give students a broad overview of all things music related.

Teaching online:

Online tuition is as useful as it is convenient for both the student and the teacher, especially when they are many miles away from each other.

I have taught many students via Zoom and find it to be a useful and enjoyable experience. I have access to a reliable, fast internet connection and know how to deal with any issues that may arise.

As I play the piano via Logic Pro X, it can be heard very clearly by the student on the other end. Students can also see what notes/chords I'm playing via an app called 'ChordieApp'.

Tutoring Approach:

I use a fun but thorough approach to get the most out of students. I'm always coming up with new ways to make remembering scales, chords and techniques as easy as possible and break difficult concepts down into bite-sized chunks. Lessons should be as memorable and enjoyable as possible!
