Personal Description:

Cameron is a 25 year old keys player specialising in Rock, Blues, R&B, Funk and Soul music. He started playing the piano aged just 8 and has been passionate about music ever since. After working through the ABRSM Classical and Jazz grades, he began studying Music and Music Tech A levels at college. From 2014 to 2016, he was tutored by highly regarded industry professionals such as Brian Henry (Soul II Soul, Mica Paris) and Frank Tontoh (Amy Winehouse, George Michael) at the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford, where he achieved a 2:1 in Professional Music Performance.

Cameron has many years’ experience providing piano lessons to people of all ages and abilities, in person, in schools and online. Companies he has previously worked for include Open2Music and Private Music Lessons UK. Cameron can also teach students classical music and theory to a high standard.

He has produced many of his own documents to aid students’ learning and has a methodical but fun approach to teaching. With a diverse knowledge of subjects such as music culture/history and technology, Cameron aims to give students a broad overview of all things music related.

Most of 2019 was spent working for Princess Cruises with party band `The Sound`. In between contracts, Cameron played with function bands, laid down keys in various studio sessions for artists including DD Allen and performed with exciting original bands/artists such as The Maitree Express (tour of Andorra), while also finding the time to collaborate with up-and-coming producers like Sudhan Gurung.

In addition to playing live, Cameron also creates and mixes his own music and has been using software such as Logic Pro X and Sibelius for several years. He is constantly learning new production techniques and recording new ideas.

Tutoring Experience:

A wealth of experience teaching the piano (and music in general) to children and adults of all ages and abilities, either at home, in a school environment, or online.

Tutoring Approach:

I use a fun but thorough approach to get the most out of students. I'm always coming up with new ways to make remembering scales, chords and techniques as easy as possible and break difficult concepts down into bite sized chunks. Lessons should be as memorable and enjoyable as possible!

I have taught many students via Zoom and find it to be a useful and enjoyable experience. I have access to a reliable, fast internet connection and know how to deal with any issues that may arise.

I can play the piano in software like Logic Pro X and this can be heard very clearly by the student on the other end (any audio I play my end can be heard). Students can also see what notes/chords I`m playing via an app called 'ChordieApp'.
