I know you want to express yourself musically with ease and freedom, who doesn't? I also know it can be frustrating and challenging. That, I understand wholeheartedly. Let's not allow fear to stand in the way of your musical aspirations!

Hi, I'm Cal:

A Vocal, Performance & Artist Development Coach (DBS Checked). Songwriter and multi-instrumentalist by trade, pasta enthusiast and Star Wars fanatic by night.

Throughout my career I have received insightful lessons and profound advice from both teachers and fellow musicians alike, ranging from leading vocal science experts, classical and contemporary mentors, innovative songwriters and music production icons. I strongly believe these dedicated professionals nurtured the best within me, and all their students, and I endeavour to do the same with you.

Tutoring Experience:

I specialise in mentoring aspiring singer-songwriters and problem-solving with vocalists and instrumentalists. Additionally, I prepare students for music auditions and performances, whilst teaching dedicated hobbyists to be the best musicians they can be.

After graduating with a BA (Hons) in Songwriting and Vocal Education, I started teaching professionally, delivering hundreds of hours of private tuition and coaching multiple successful Brit School entrants. I enjoy working with students who seek technical proficiency, but above all, I encourage them to channel emotion and express their creativity. I am grateful for all that have learnt from the unique perspectives of both my tutors and my students, which continue to inform my methodology, supported by ongoing professional development.

Tutoring Approach:

My teaching approach is Student Centred learning. Music is a discovery, not an end goal. Together we will find your authentic musical self.

Exploring many aspects of music, well move through:

Building: Creating a solid technical and musical understanding and foundation focused on comfort and ease.

Balance: Continuing with balancing technical abilities with expressive and stylistic elements.

Exploration: Playing with colour, tone and musical authenticity with extreme and advanced singing such as belting and distortion from a place of balance and vocal heath.

Play: Performance coaching with sole focus on expression, connection and emoting in studio and live environments.

To best support you on your musical path, I would recommend the following:

We are musicians: music is an integral part of our lives. It’s brilliant! There’s always another artist to discover, a new song to write, a new skill to develop, all to connect with our audience. The need to create and express runs deep. Tell me what you'd like to achieve from our sessions.

I want to help you.
