Personal Description:
Hello, I am a freelance trumpeter, recently graduated from the University of Southampton with a BA (Hons) in Music. I gig around London and the south coast. Learning trumpet from the age of 11, I have gained a wealth of experience in many types of performance including orchestral, jazz and brass group work. I have performed with London and Southampton based orchestras, brass dectets and jazz/funk bands to name but a few. I have also toured throughout Europe with many groups including the Southampton University Jazz Orchestra (Montreux Jazz Festival) where I played lead trumpet and the Southampton University Brass Band (Edinburgh) where I conducted the band. I am currently applying for a masters in trumpet performance at one of the London music conservatoires to further develop my skills and technique.
Tutoring Experience:
I have tought pupils individually whilst studying at university. I have also been involved in school outreach programmes where the orchestra (Southampton University Symphony Orchestra) would hold workshops and performances for local primary and secondary schools. I am currently a trumpet tutor with Merton Music Foundation and Sutton Music Service. My role entails teaching to local primary school children individually and in small groups.
Tutoring Approach:
I believe every pupil is unique and will need individual, custom support which I am happy to provide. I am keen to work to the needs of my pupils and any specific areas they wish to work on and develop. Throughout the teaching process my number one priority is for the student to enjoy themselves and have fun playing the trumpet!
