Personal Description:

At 27 years old I have extensive teaching and music industry experience, as a pianist and a singer. Having been classically trained on the piano from an early age I sat grades 1-8 with the ABRSM achieving distinction at grade 8 at the age of 15.

Since then I began to explore pop music and songwriting which I have pursued alongside piano teaching ever since. I was very fortunate to study the pop music degree at the prestigious Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, where I further developed my songwriting, performance and teaching skills. This has enabled me to develop a holistic approach to teaching, helping students discover and improve a range of skills that they wish to build on.

I strongly believe that it is important to explore whatever areas and skills the student would like to and in the first lesson it’s proved useful to set short and long term goals enabling us both to focus on achieving the best results.

I currently make a living from teaching and performing in restaurants, hotels and bars in London.

Tutoring Experience:

I have taught piano and vocals for the last ten years, tutoring around twenty students a week varying in age - from five years old to adult, ranging from absolute beginner to Grade 8 standard. When submitting for exams I make sure the student is sufficiently prepared and this shows as the majority of the results they come out with are merits or distinctions. I enjoy teaching jazz and pop music as well and can tailor-suit a lesson to the student's desire.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe it is crucial to work very closely with students (and parents if they are younger) in setting goals that align with their passion within music.

I have found great success from setting short and long term goals at the start of the term to have something to aim for, whether this is an exam, a public performance or a recording for a **Contact Detail Removed** video or CD for a friend or family member. I have a home studio setup so we are able to record demos - piano and vocals - during the lessons.

My main aim is that there is an enjoyment and passion shared through music as this is single handedly the most important part of the process of learning.
