I'm a sincere teacher, who, as well as teaching, has performed all over the UK and Sweden in various jazz, pop, soul and folk groups.
I started playing in my early teens, and have never looked back. From a love of rock and blues music, my interests eventually led me to study jazz guitar at Leeds College of Music, where I relished the opportunity to study full-time.
After several years in Leeds, I moved to Gothenburg, Sweden, for 2 years and now live in London.
I have a genuine passion for music, and for the guitar, which covers many different genres. This helps keep my teaching approach open, flexible and well-rounded.
I currently perform with own eponymous trio as well several other original music projects.
I'm currently studying a postgraduate in jazz music at the Royal Academy or Music.
I have taught since 2008, mainly guitar, but also saxophone, to people from a range of backgrounds, ages, and abilities. I can also teach theory and composition. I have led workshops, both on jazz improvisation and rock ensemble playing to small/medium groups, with rewarding results. I worked as a guitar teacher at the English School, Gothenburg during the school year 2014/2015.
It could be that you are a beginner who wishes to learn a specific song, or maybe you are stuck in a rut with your playing and need some help with moving forwards. We can follow the RGT or Rock School syllabus or go off-piste. Ultimately, the method needs to suit the student and their goals.
