Personal Description:
A committed, qualified and driven guitar tutor and musician who enjoys nurturing and unearthing musical potential in students. I have ten years full time experience as a guitar tutor teaching a vast array of students of all different ages, skill levels and styles. I take great pride in being a resourceful and improvisational teacher who enjoys creating unique paths for each of my students to follow, paths that will not only improve their general musicality but also their personal musical voice and vision. I am friendly, supportive and approachable and am able communicate well at all levels. Hard work, creative honesty and the want to help people find their musical voice are the tenants that drive me as a music teacher.
Tutoring Experience:
I have ten years professional experience teaching both privately and in a music school setting. I have extensive experience teaching students of all musical styles and levels both in a group and singular setting from age five to age sixty. In addition to this I also have had the privilege of teaching less able children (both learning difficulties and physical disabilities) and relish the challenge that such situations may produce. I am happy to teach both syllabus and non-syllabus approaches, my aim is to help a student learn in any way they wish.
Tutoring Approach:
My musical ethos is centered around a sense of inclusion, my mission statement is to debunk the myth that music is for a limited creatively gifted elite! With my guidance you will unearth and nurture your own distinctive creative voice. You will learn to compose and record music of your own creation. I wholeheartedly believe that music is for everyone and to that end, anybody is able to achieve any musical goal. I like to set up a synergistic relationship between myself and a prospective student, one that facilitates learning on both ends, as we forge a musical path I feel it is my responsibility to continuously react to the changing needs, wants and skills of a student to ensure the best rate of progression and musical fulfillment.
