Anthony offers a FREE first / introductory lesson!
I'm Tony and I've been teaching music for over a decade. I teach the electric, acoustic or bass guitar and I teach professional grades or a personal fun curriculum.
I have a music degree from Derby university and I've attained several music grades in both guitar and piano via Rockschool and ABRSM. Other documents I have include an enhanced DBS checked (updated yearly), pediatric first aid (British Red Cross, 2015) and a safeguarding pupils award (Simply Education, 2015). Should you wish to view any of these, they are all present in my ROA (record of achievement) file that I have available during taster lessons.
PLEASE NOTE: My lessons are typically 30 minutes long and are priced at £40 per month for children and £50 per month for adults (a weekly payment option also available). First Tutors does not give me the option to add different time scales or varied prices. Thanks.
12 years teaching experience, 22 years guitar playing experience.
This includes both in schools and some private tuition.
I've spent time working with 'Simply Education' as a supply teacher for schools across the Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire areas. During this time I worked as a primary teaching assistant covering the national curriculum, as well as doing group and class work as a guitar or music teacher.
Since then I've worked alongside the company 'Rockstart Bootcamp' beginning as a guitar teaching assistant and eventually taking over as the head teacher for the bootcamps in the East Midlands area (whilst then taking on my own assistants).
In 2015 I finished working with Rockstart Bootcamp (as the company moved south to London) and so I now run my own business for private guitar tuition.
My outlook on teaching is to provide a friendly and comfortable atmosphere, with a solid structured course that's easy to follow and easy to tailor to specific individuals. I want my clients to enjoy their learning, whilst feeling like they're constantly progressing at a pace that suits them.
My lessons begin with a tailor made study plan.
It’s built on a six week period, which covers six topics. On your free introductory lesson, I evaluate what you know and don’t know and to what point you would like to get yourself to. Over the course we’ll study riffs, chords, rhythm, note theory, scales, your own selected songs, genres, and much more. The aim being to continuously test and train your skills on the guitar. There are no formal exams, but I will be checking you understand what we’ve previously studied every week.
We’ll be keeping everything you learn compiled in a folder (which I provide when you begin lessons), so you can review and practice what you have been studying at anytime.
If you wish to follow a different study route (such as a grading syllabus like Rockschool), I’m happy to cater to that. Just let me know on your taster lesson.
Ultimately, it’s made to be very interesting and fun, and hopefully it’ll provide the opportunity for you to be really passionate and enthusiastic about playing the guitar.
Everything will be explained in further detail when you come for your free introductory lesson!
