Personal Description:
I am 37 years old and i have been playing and studying music since i was 10. I first picked up the guitar just after my 10th birthday and i haven't looked back since. I come from an incredibly musical family, my mum is a piano teacher with the royal associated board of music and my dad is a bass player so i can always relate with other musicians and individuals with a passion for music. I also play drums and bass guitar so i know how to blend rhythm and melody and i understand the importance of the relationship between the two. I have a degree in Sound Engineering from Birmingham City University and i have been working as a guitar teacher and freelance sound engineer since graduating in 2010. I also work at Access Creative College as a Course Leader for the Music Performance and Music Production courses. Words cannot express the joy i get from passing on the gift of music to others. It is, after all, the one universal language that represents all moods and feelings.

Tutoring Approach:
My approach to teaching music incorporates both the tried and tested methods and some more alternative methods. I believe that playing music is first and foremost about having fun. I don't feel that learning an instrument should always be about spending hours practicing one note at a time scales or studying theory books, because playing music should be a hobby, not a chore. The appreciation for theory and technique will come to the player naturally in their own time and until then i think it's important to play anything you want to play and not have your creativity strangled in any way. I have experienced first hand the joys that my teaching methods bring to children and adults, when they learn how to play that riff they have always dreamed of being able to play, the look on their faces says it all.
