I have extensive concert experience; supporting hundreds of international acts, festival appearances, and quite a few headline shows too. I have in depth knowledge of multiple styles of guitar playing; in particular, flamenco, Spanish classical, bottleneck blues, folk, but also Rock, pop and multiple others. I have played the guitar since I was 8 years old, predominately self-taught, and gone through many different musical phases. By the age of 12 I could imitate anybody on the electric guitar, I could play pieces by people such as Stevie Ray Vaughen and Joe Satriani. I moved on to finger picking in my late teens; steel string acoustic as well as classical. Then I went to study flamenco guitar for 6 months in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain in 2007. As you can see I have no formal qualifications in music. But what I lack in this respect I make up for in experience and self- gained knowledge.
I have been teaching, off and on, for thirteen years to all ages and abilities.
Informal, comfortable lessons are a fun way progress in music. However, I do believe in raising the bar. If a student is at a certain level, I aim to raise the level during each lesson so that there is a constant process of growth. I think it is important to learn the pieces you want to learn and realize that it is within your grasp if you put the work in and enjoy doing so.
