Personal Description:

Hello! My name is Ana; I am a concert pianist and a highly experienced music tutor. I am currently a piano tutor at the Junior Department of the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and Cardiff University.

I give private tuition in Piano, Music Theory (up to Grade 5), and Aural at all levels. I hold a Bachelor of Music and a Masters in Performance from the Royal College of Music, as well as a PhD in Performance from Cardiff University.

Tutoring Experience:

I have been teaching the piano for 12 years.

I have a 100% pass rate in ABRSM/Trinity exams.

Tutoring Approach:

Teaching, for me, is not just a profession; it's a calling. I find immense fulfilment in guiding students through their musical endeavours, and watching them grow not only as musicians but as individuals! It is my firm belief that the combination of passion, excellence, and empathy creates an environment where musical talents can flourish.

My approach when teaching is relaxed and friendly, while detail-oriented and focused on weekly improvement.

I believe students should not only be encouraged to strive for high standards but also feel supported in their journeys. Each learner is unique, and I embrace these differences with an open heart, tailoring my approach to suit the diverse needs and aspirations of my students.

I ask questions during my lessons that promote a deeper exploration of musical meaning and that encourage autonomous thinking, even in younger students. I also explore practising strategies in each lesson that enhance students’ focus, performance, and retention of learned information during their individual practice time.

Ultimately, my main goal when teaching is to inspire and encourage students to foster a genuine love of music-making, helping them achieve their goals, whatever these may be.
