I am classically trained singer and musician now working as a singer/songwriter. I offer fun, informative lessons which focus on the physiology of the voice. This enables me to give a well rounded approach to vocal tuition which includes how to use the vocal muscles, as well as develop the musicality and performance skills of a student. I now teach both music theatre and pop vocals, unfortunately I no longer offer classical singing tuition.
After completing my degree in music at Cardiff University I began teaching singing privately. I have 10 years of experience working as a teacher in various educational institutions such as Strode College, Huish Episcopi Academy and numerous primary schools. In addition to teaching I am presently working as a session singer and songwriter. I am currently developing my professional development by attending courses run by The Voice Explained on the Estill Model of vocal function and I have also completed a Songwriting Masters at Bath Spa University.
I feel it is very important that singing is kept enjoyable and you learn songs that you love! This is why you will have a great deal of input on what you want to learn during lessons. This will mean you will start to take creative decisions on how you want to sound and your individual voice. Lessons will be focused on developing your own sound and not trying to replicate somebody elses voice.
If you choose to have lessons with me and you pay the charge from First Tutors I will deduct the £8.00 fee from your first lesson. Lesson charges:
60 minutes: £30.00
30 minutes: £15.00 taken in blocks of 10 for £150.00
