Personal Description:
I have an LRSM Diploma in violin performance and a Music Degree from Aberdeen University (with honours in performance violin) where I was involved with many orchestras, choirs and chamber groups. I continued my studies at The Royal Scottish Academy of Music (now known as The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland) in Glasgow. Over the years I have been involved with numerous musical quests - for 10 years I was leader of the Edinburgh Chamber Orchestra and now lead the Edinburgh Gilbert & Sullivan Society orchestra.
Tutoring Experience:
I have taught violin since 1982 but not continuously. I am currently involved with Sistema Scotland (Big Noise) where I assist with violin tutoring of primary school children in the Wester Hailes area of Edinburgh…
Tutoring Approach:
My approach is based on the needs of the student in order to achieve their goals. Although learning the violin can be challenging, I believe lessons should be fun and enjoyable. It is important for students to leave feeling motivated and with a sense of achievement.
