Personal Description:

Friendly approachable teacher with over 15 years teaching experience.

I studied a music degree and the University of Sheffield and a teaching PGCE at the Nottingham Trent University.

I have been involved in saxophone quartets, wind bands, concert bands, flute choirs and have accompanied choirs and soloists in the piano. I enjoy a wide variety of musical styles including Classical, Jazz, Popular music and Musicals.

Tutoring Experience:

I started my career as a Secondary School Music Teacher, and I quickly discovered I wanted to teach small groups and individuals how to play music rather than music theory to whole class groups. I found that students progressed more quickly and got more enjoyment out of all aspects of music if their performance improved. As a result I became a specialist music tutor teaching Piano, Saxophone, flute and clarinet to all age groups. I teach in Primary and secondary schools around Cheshire, and from my home.

I teach grades 1-8 on all 4 instruments in Classical and Jazz Styles, I also tutor for GCSE/A-level Performances and any other performances students may be working towards.

Tutoring Approach:

I find students progress quickest when they enjoy what they are playing. I try to get students to create their own goals to work towards and help them achieve them whether its formal graded exams or just figuring out how to play a piece they like. I tailor all lessons to suit individual needs
