Personal Description:
My name is Alfie and I am a passionate professional musician and drum tutor who is a graduate of both the Royal Northern College of Music and The Brit School. I am an experienced and active live and studio musician who has worked with a wide array of bands and solo artists across many genres. This work has led me to perform at venues such as the Reading and Leeds Festival, BBC Broadcasting House, Ronnie Scott’s, The Cavern Club and Band On The Wall. I have also recorded at studios such as BBC Radio 2, Blueprint, Estúdios Sá da Bandeira and SSR.
As a graduate of both the Royal Northern College of Music and the Brit School, I am extremely passionate about the study of music. I strive to inspire students of all levels whilst developing their musicianship, technique and understanding of music from around the world. I am a calm and encouraging drum tutor with experience in both one-to-one and group instrumental lessons. As a teacher, my main objectives are that the students enjoy learning, attain a good facility on their instrument and develop an understanding of the music that we play. I acknowledge that no two students are the same and therefore there is not a single learning method that would work for every student. With this in mind, I try my best to be as flexible as possible in my teaching methods and adapt each lesson to best cater to the individual’s needs, in order to deliver inspiring and creative lessons to all my students. Above all, I hope that my wealth of experience as a professional musician can be used to spark passion and enthusiasm in the students I teach so that they continue to enjoy learning and playing music.

During my lessons we also cover music notation, sight reading, technique, improvisation and musicianship. In addition to this we can incorporate music and drum specific technology such as DAWs and Roland SPD-SX, creating and playing with backing tracks, amongst the many other technological scenarios that a modern drummer can encounter. My overall aim is to provide enjoyable and valuable lessons to each student with the hope that my enthusiasm for music will inspire my students to continue their musical learning.
