Alex is an enthusiastic teacher with experience in all ages and abilities. She also freelances around the UK and has played with a variety of orchestras including
the London Symphony Orchestra. She is a graduate of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where she received her Masters in Orchestral Artistry and studied with Gareth Davies, Philippa Davies, Ian Clarke and Christopher Green. Previous to this, she gained a scholarship to study at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama for undergradua**Contact Detail Removed**arning predominantly with Sarah Newbold, where she played with all the colleges ensembles and reached the final of the concerto competition in 2014.

She is a founding member of the Vesta Trio who are recent recipients of the Cardiff Violins Chamber Prize and finalists of the McGrenary Chamber Competition. In 2017, they were accepted onto the Live Music Now scheme and give frequent performances and workshops. They also represent Music in Hospitals Care across England and Wales.

She is delighted to have recently moved to Edinburgh where she will continue to teach and perform.

Tutoring Experience:

Alex began teaching 10 years ago during her time living in Cardiff at 'Making Music Changing Lives', first volunteering and then becoming the flute teacher. Since moving to London she has taught privately and for various schools including the specialist Saturday music school, 'Young Music Makers', North Bridge House and the Camden Music Service. She has just moved to Edinburgh where she will begin teaching at St George's School alongside her private teaching.

Tutoring Approach:

I always try and get the best out of my students and try to find creative solutions to musical and technical difficulties, realising that every student learns in a slightly different way. I establish a good rapport with the students that I work with which creates a friendly learning environment, enabling us to build on their strengths and make progress in areas that they need help with. My lessons are always centred on each individual pupil’s needs, and although the emphasis is always on making music, I try and include various technical exercises to give them the freedom to fully express their musical ideas.
