Information About Alec - Streatham teacher

Personal Description:

I am a professional freelance French Horn player and teacher, recently graduated from the Royal Academy of Music. I have a wealth of orchestral playing experience, having played in a number of the UK's most esteemed symphony orchestras, including the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and the Philharmonia Orchestra. I am also an active chamber musician, being a founding member of the Ormonde Ensemble wind quintet, with whom I have received training for delivering engaging and informative education and outreach projects for children of all ages.

Tutoring Experience:

I have extensive experience teaching French Horn in school settings and on a private basis. I have delivered one-to-one, small group, and whole class lessons, to abilities ranging from beginner level through to advacned learners. I am comfortable teaching pupils of all abilities and I am happy to teach both younger students and adult learners alike. I am well-acquainted with the ABRSM and Trinity examination board procedures and standards.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a committed, passionate and empathetic teacher, who believes strongly in giving students the same quality of tuition irrespective of their level, age or ability. I aim to establish good methods and techniques for both practice and performance with my students from the outset, that will serve to benefit their musical experiences over time. I always bring my own instrument to lessons to demonstate and play alongside my students, as I feel this allows pupils to bettter engage with their lessons. Having studied an academic undergraduate degree at the University of Birmingham before completing my musical education at the Royal Academy of Music in London, I believe I have a unique set of educational experiences that allow me to translate these ideas into my own teaching.
