Personal Description:
My music career started at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, Cardiff, aged 8. My principal instrument the Piano. I was later introduced to the Harp and Guitar, the Harp becoming a joint principal instrument with the Piano.
At the RWCMD I achieved DipABRSM on the Piano and Grade 8 on the Guitar enabling me to be a member of the National Youth Guitar Ensemble. At the end of my time in the RWCMD I was awarded the Junior Conservatoire Principal Prize.
My Harp career intensified when I began winning at National and International Competitions.
As an orchestral harpist I have played with ensembles including the National Youth Orchestra of Wales, Gustav Mahler Orchestra, The Dart Orchestra, Rhondda Symphony Orchestra and the London Opera Production Limited.
I have performed at prestigious venues including Cardiff Castle, St David’s Hall, Wales Millennium Centre and Chapel of all Saints Wardour Castle.
I am currently in my third year completing my Bachelor of Music (Hons) in Harp performance at the Royal Academy of Music. As well as a soloist I am also an orchestral and chamber musician and play a variety of styles including classical, folk, jazz and pop.
Tutoring Experience:
I volunteer at the London Opera Production Limited who bring together children, all with disabilities working
on a programme of music to create a small theatre production.
I regularly volunteer tutoring and supporting children with learning difficulties in a Welsh Primary school.
I’m very keen to pass my passion of music onto my new pupils.
Tutoring Approach:
I believe everyone is capable of learning a new instrument with dedication and my support to any standard for pure enjoyment or with the aim of taking ABRSM or Trinity Exams.
I am understanding of the challenges of learning an instrument and am very supportive and encouraging of my students. I want all of my students to develop a love of music and so it’s important to me that the lessons are fun and effective.
