This is how 2 referees rated Aiko:
I taught piano and keyboard in my home country of Japan many years ago. After becoming a resident in England, I studied English and piano more intently so that I was able to take and pass (with merit) the ABRSM grade 7 in 2011. Continuing to study piano, I achieved ABBRSM grade 8 in 2013. My piano tutor during these times was Professor Robert Orledge.
For my continuing professional development, I am keen to study jazz piano. (ABRASM jazz piano grade 5 with distinction, ABRSM theory grade 5)
Recently, I have performed publicly locally with a soprano singer and also at a jazz live house in Japan.
Began teaching piano in UK 2009.
My approach to teaching has grown steadily over the years. 'To teach is to learn twice' is a favourite quote, which I have found to be true. When I was a young girl in Japan, my teacher told me to give up because, she said, I would never be able to play. Hard work and a positive approach can create progress that at first you might not have thought possible.
If you wish to learn merely for your own goals or if you wish to follow study leading to ABRSM grades, I can help you. The first lesson is FREE, to establish rapport and with no obligation on either side. For beginners, especially younger ones, I do not recommend an hour lesson, but rather 30 or 40 minutes.
