Personal Description:

Hi, My name is Adam, and I am a professional drummer, having studied at music college for three years. I have years of experience performing in a wide variety of musical situations, such as orchestra pits, classical orchestras/wind bands, covers/function bands, jazz groups and singer/song-writers to name a few, as both a drum kit player and percussionist.

I am also a multi-instrumentalist, and because of that, I have the added understanding of how drums fit in with the rest of the instruments in any band situation. My lessons are very much focused on this, and helping you gain an understanding of how to develop as a great musician as well as a great drummer.

Whether you are a complete beginner or a more advanced player, together we will come up with a plan to help you achieve your goals, whether you want to work on grades, sight-reading and interpretation, technique, groove playing, ensemble playing, improvisation or transcribing.

If you would like to see/hear me play, please check out my teaching website for some footage:

Tutoring Experience:

- Private Teaching for 10 years, with students from 6 to 60 years old.
- Also teach in schools, private and state.
- Students taking exams with both Rockschool and Trinity Rock and Pop
- All students passing with high merits or distinctions

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to teaching is very much tailored to and based around the students musical interests. I always start with a new student by talking to them about what sort of music they enjoying listening to as well as playing. Unlike most other instruments, most people learn the drums with the eventual goal of being able to play in bands with other musicians. I myself am a multi-instrumentalist, so I understand the importance of developing that musical awareness as a drummer.

Areas covered in my lessons include:

- Hands and Feet Technique/Posture
- 4 way coordination
- Sight reading
- Improvisation
- Groove playing
- Rudiments and fills.
