Personal Description:
I am a professional composer, performer and teacher working in the Yorkshire area. My main interests are composition and music analysis which I studied at degree level at the RNCM in Manchester. I write mainly for my Latin band which performs regularly at high profile events up and down the country. I play a wide range of instruments to a very high level and am currently cutting my teeth on Latin percussion (congas and timbales).
Tutoring Experience:
I have previously worked as a head of music in a secondary school, achieving outstanding exam results with my students. I also teach composition privately to GCSE and A Level students and can provide excellent references. I currently teach a range of music at a primary school from class singing to group recorders to individual instrumental tuition. I also give group workshops to students interested in Latin/salsa music.
Tutoring Approach:
It is my belief that all aspects of music can be learnt and understood with the correct teaching. I don't believe it is necessary to have any innate talent and I enjoy realising students' potential whatever their level of proficiency. My approach is centred around discussing with my students what they wish to achieve and then setting attainable goals appropriate to their expectations.
