Information About Abigail - Warwick teacher

Personal Description:

As a classical guitarist I have performed in all the UK’s major venues including St Martin-in-the-Fields, St John’s Smith Square, the Barbican, the Purcell Room, the Royal Opera House, the Royal Festival Hall and Tate Britain. Abigail has also travelled widely, performing in Holland, France, Germany and Japan and have had performances broadcast on Radio 3.
I have recorded for NMC, Burning Shed, Riverrun Records and Delphian Records. More recently l recorded the duets and technical exercises for Trinity College London’s guitar syllabus CDs 2010-2015 and the complete new Trinity syllabus of solos, exercises and duet for 2016 onwards. I have been teaching throughout my career and directing classical guitar ensembles.

Tutoring Experience:

I have a teaching career spanning 25 years and have vast experience of all levels and abilities. I am currently classical guitar teacher at Wellington College, Berkshire and was formerly Leading Professional in Classical Guitar for Berkshire Maestros, where I co-ordinated the activities for the Gifted and Talented Scheme, Guitar Academy. I have been a Trinity examiner and am well-versed in preparing students for exams should they wish to do so.

Tutoring Approach:

I offer a well-rounded musical education which includes sight-reading, theory, aural and general musicanship. I use standard classical guitar books, but create my own resources as well which includes popular songs/themes. I encourage all my students to join a guitar ensemble as soon as they are confident because playing with other people is not only great fun, but supports everything that we do in lessons.
