Personal Description:

Hey! I'm a music producer, DJ and enthusiastic teacher. I love to play video games, research music technology and have a proper good dance to great music. My passion for music making came after studying to become an engineer or actor (weird combo, I know!) and realising that I was nowhere near as fascinated by either of them as I was by how music producers made all the crazy sounds I heard on my favourite records. I started out trying to make a variety of bass oriented dance music, but my time in London at university opened up my musical palette to jazzy, rock, and ambient flavours. I spend most of my time now producing and exchanging my knowledge of music production and music technology with musician friends of mine.

Tutoring Experience:

I am an expert with Ableton Live and an advanced user of Logic Pro, I have extensive experience working with music software and hardware, as well as experience of teaching both seasoned musicians and beginners.

Tutoring Approach:

I can teach at your home if you have the equipment, but if not, I have a fully functional music studio at mine, in the heart of Plymouth. My approach to music tuition is goal oriented but also encourages freedom of experimentation. Music making is all about doing and my aim is to show my students how things work and why we use them, and create an environment for their creativity to run wild. It can be stifling to get caught in details and the works of other, more experienced musicians and for those of you who experience this I can help you get out of these unhelpful habits and return to focusing on the creation, which is what we're all here for. For students who are creatively uninhibited but with limited technical knowledge, I can take you through the production of a track from start to finish explaining each process and decision in explicit detail. My studio is complete with Moog, Novation and Elektron synthesizers, a Roland drum machine, keyboards, hardware effects and an analog mixing desk.
