Personal Description:

Words make my world go round and I love engaging with people around this topic; language by means of words, after all, is primarily how we communicate and the medium we use to achieve most things, getting to know people or learning more about any topic (normally by reading). I gladly chaperone anyone wanting to improve or upgrade his/her linguistic or grammatical abilities. I am a published Afrikaans writer and poet and obtained a master's degree in Afrikaans creative writing.

Other than teaching online, I also edit Afrikaans copy, assist as a ghost- or co-writer, review Afrikaans manuscripts, develop and edit study material or curriculum content and mark university exam papers and assignments. I furthermore take on commissions as an artist. My students and clients include high school learners, tertiary students, adults, as well as people challenged with learning disabilities. I aim to cultivate a love of this wonderfully expressive language, Afrikaans, in my students, by making things practical and interesting, breaking it down to the basics. Getting a grip on any language is so mightily empowering and I work towards that achievement for all my students. Oh, and I do love cooking and gardening!

Tutoring Experience:

My experience includes:

- 11 years of e-tutoring Afrikaans to university students (literature: home language and first/second additional language), marking of assignments and exam papers;
- a total of 2 years of lecturing Afrikaans at two different private South African universities (B Ed-students);
- 9 years of online tutoring Afrikaans to individual students;
- 14 years' facilitation of an adult autistic art student (honing language and writing skills also, holistic approach);
- mentoring private students (Afrikaans & Art-related subjects): portfolio development, speeches and essays;
- 21 years of private art classes, conducting workshops (various subjects) and training sessions at a private gallery, small groups.
