Personal Description:

I am a disciplined and forward-thinking Biological Sciences graduate who has a passion for sharing knowledge and inspiring students. As someone with more than two years of experience as a laboratory demonstrator and teaching assistant at UKZN, I understand the importance of creating a challenging, fun, and safe environment for students. I take pride in getting to know students on a personal level to better understand their needs, and determine the most suitable strategies to make the teaching and learning process highly productive. My academic experience has equipped me with an extensive understanding of biodiversity and ecophysiology. Additionally, I conducted numerous research mini-projects where I gained essential biostatistical knowledge and the ability to analyze scientific data using numerous statistical software. The knowledge and skills I possess, coupled with my willingness to learn more give me confidence in my ability to facilitate positive change and collective effort in any work environment.

I believe tutoring requires someone who is passionate about teaching and helping students grow academically. This is a very important job as it does not only require sharing information, but it also requires teaching the students essential learning skills that they can use throughout their academic careers. Tutorials must promote independent thinking and instill confidence in students so that they are not afraid of sharing their thoughts and not afraid of saying incorrect answers as this is a huge part of learning.
