Personal Description:

I have 15 years of tutoring experience and 7 years managing a tutoring center. My qualifications include three degrees, the most recent being a MSc degree with disction at University College London (UCL). I am friendly and kind, and make very patient and motivating towards all my students. I have tutored students previously failing Mathematics, and within 4 terms were achieving 75% and above. A number of such students went on to specialise in STEM related careers as a result of a change in attitude and excellent results in Mathematics.

Tutoring Experience:

As stated above, I have 15 years of tutoring experience and 7 years managing a tutoring center specialising in Mathematics. I graduated from high school with 98% in Mathematics and 7 distinctions across all subjects, receiving the district award. This led me to begin my career in teaching Mathematics alongside my university studies. I was the manager and head Mathematics tutor at a tuition center for 7 years. In addition to tutoring, my responsibilities included supervision, training of new tutors, and course work compilation. I have tutored over 500 students of various ages. My students have consistently improved from those struggling to grasp the basics of Mathematics to those who are high achievers and wish to excel. I also have experience tutoring Religious Studies up to A-levels for students of different abilities. All my students have excelled and consistently improved.

I have tutored students in various countries & also have experience tutoring the UK syllabus, up to A-levels.

Tutoring Approach:

My teaching approach has evolved over the years for both one-to-one lessons and group class lessons. I aim to establish a relationship and personal rapport with each student allowing me to understand them better. I encourage them to interact with me during the lesson and feel comfortable to ask questions. I look for the 'aha' moment to know when students have grasped the concept being taught. Through encouragement for every task they successfully complete, their self-confidence and independence increases. With a subject like Mathematics, it's easy for students to feel disengaged and bored. Bringing a realistic approach and speaking with them about real-life applications, career prospects and the use of multi-media helps students relate to the work and stay engaged.
