Information About Philip - Bethelsdorp tutor

Personal Description:

I am a career teacher with a broad range of academic interests including Mathematics, Languages and IT.
I enjoy teaching, tutoring and interacting on-line with young people who are keen to learn.
My interests include sport, practical work, gardening and music. I enjoy spending time with my family.
I am English speaking but am also fluent in Afrikaans and understand basic Xhosa.

Tutoring Experience:

I have taught at many types of high schools: private, government, special needs, CAPS & IEB. Subjects taught include Mathematics, English, IT, CAT and Maths Lit. I am English home language and can also teach in Afrikaans. Grades 8 -12.
I also have tertiary teaching experience and teacher training experience and have worked in educational development.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is to assess the strengths and weaknesses of students and select appropriate material for the students level which is nonetheless on par with curriculum requirements. I use well designed summaries to highlight main concepts and methods as introductions and summaries. I engage students by questioning in a challenging but encouraging and supportive manner.
