Personal Description:

I am in possession of a Master’s degree in Environmental Sciences (cum laude) (Physical Geography) with specialization in Synoptic-scale Climatology. The research work conducted was highly commended by examiners and was awarded a distinction. I am currently on path with pursuing a Ph.D. in Earth Sciences focusing on commercial plantations and remote sensing. Presently, I am employed under the Department of Geography and Environmental Studies at the University of Zululand, as a lecturer. The experience in lecturing at a university level is invaluable, and I believe I am an excellent candidate for being a tutor. My research and teaching interests include Atmospheric sciences, Meteorology and Climatology, Communicating Climate Information, Climate Change, Remote Sensing, Environmental Management, Natural Resource Economics and Life Sciences.

Tutoring Experience:

I have considerable 8 years experience with tutoring, academic support, mentorship for learners and students. Good understanding of strengths and challenges of previously disadvantaged institutions and schools, including the communities they serve. I also have excellent computer, scientific, report writing and, communication skills (both written and spoken). I am an avid researcher who attends to detail to my work, with a strong work ethic and ability to perform optimally under tight deadlines.

My teaching philosophy is based on peer-to-peer learning and self exploration. Integrating exciting tasks and e-learning methods that assist students with the practical application of theory. To inspire confidence and promote educational growth through teaching and learning where the students take center priority.
