Personal Description:

Hi, I'm Mark. I completed my Matric last year and will be studying a BSc in Computer Science at Northumbria University in the UK later this year. I took IT with CAT as an 8th subject in Matric and attained a distinction in IT for my final mark. Alongside this, I also achieved the 2nd highest grade for my PAT, Performance Assessment Task, with an overall mark of 98%. I am proficient in Java and SQL as well as Theory Knowledge should it be required. Although I mainly tutor for IT, I use Excel on a daily basis and am proficient with all the Office 365 applications. I am available for lessons every weekday evening and the whole weekend. My first lesson with every student will always be free of cost to allow the student to decide whether they would like to continue lessons from there on out. Tutoring Experience:

During my Grade 11 and 12 years I would tutor other students in my class to assist them with programming and SQL whether it be for exam or test preparation, general understanding or for assistance with their own PATs. My students have managed to attain marks up to 91% in their own PATs and in cases I have seen students improve their marks by up to 35%

Tutoring Approach:

I believe the best way to learn the practical side of IT whether it be programming, SQL, Office 365 etc. It is far easier to rather understand how and why things work the way they do rather than attempting to parrot learn formulas, functions, methods etc. I like to engage with my students and make sure they fully understand the topic by working through exercises, past papers as well as external exercises that test the understanding of the topic as a whole. I provide all my students with the notes I used during Matric. These notes cover all the theory topics taught throughout the year in the IEB syllabus as well as the cover all the practical topics and give tips on what exactly needs to be memorized for SQL and Java.
