Information About Jurie - Atlantis tutor

Personal Description:

Hi there! I am currently a postgraduate student and graduated in 2020 with a Bachelor in Music. I have found a great passion for teaching and tutoring Music Theory on different levels for different ages, and I take a student's education very seriously. Further I have Choral Conducting as my practical instrument, so working with people from various backgrounds is a given.

Tutoring Experience:

I am took part of a social impact program my university has to offer in 2020, where I taught beginners Music Theory to post-matriculants. Other than that, I have informally tutored since 2016 in different subjects. Currently I am teaching part time Voice and High School Music, and am conducting and directing two choirs.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring itself is to explain work in a different way, from a different perspective, so that the student can understand one concept perhaps in different manners. I believe in giving exercises or activities to make sure that the student gets enough practice and that I can also monitor where the student is at. I believe that Music Theory cannot only be taught on paper, but that everything which is seen and written, be heard as well. This ties in well with the student's Aural Training. I also encourage my students to sight read the exercises on their instrument as far as they can, to embody the Theory which they are studying.
