Information About Jade - Bergplaas tutor

Personal Description:

Hi there! My name is Jade. I am 19 years old and currently taking a gap year. I have graduated from Eunice High School (one of the top academic schools in the country) with my National Senior Certificate and achieved 92% for my Mathematics Final mark. I am an energetic and creative young lady. I get along with majority of younger students. I enjoy challenges and finding solutions to problems. This idea is what mathematics is based one. Mathematics is based on being able to find numerous ways to a problem. mathematics also promotes this form of thinking in real life. I believe that every student has the capability to do well in the subject, if given the right guidance. Every student can also find something to enjoy in the subject, it is all in the mindset.

Tutoring Experience:

I have work experience job shadowing teachers at St Andrew's Primary School. I also have experience tutoring one-on-one classes in various subjects for the first term this year.
I am qualified as a Level 3 TEFL teacher. While this is based on teaching English as a foreign language, the course has taught me how to properly plan and prepare for lessons so that it benefits the student the most.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to focus on the material that the student struggles most with. After that i like to focus on the material that the student is currently dealing with at school, to ensure that the student understands the work and doesn't fall behind. When tests or exams loom near, I prefer to focus on the work being tested. I also like to help prepare students with the skills they will need to help get through the assessment with minimum stress.
I believe in a hands-on approach that focuses on a reward system. Instead of fighting with the student for getting the incorrect answers, I believe in congratulating the student on the correct answers. I believe in eliciting the correct answers from students, instead of giving them straight-up. I believe teaching in this manner helps build the student's confidence in the subject and in general. Students must also ralise that it is okay to ask for help, it is not something to be ashamed of.
