Information About Ishmael - Johannesburg tutor

Personal Description:

I am a 35 year old tswana male, a 3rd year social work student. I am faithful, honest and have the passion in working with people. I am an ex offender, however, my past does not interfere with my current activities. I am not a qualified teacher; however I have the ability to help the learners with biology and geography as they are some of the subject I did in matric.

Tutoring Experience:

As a Social Work student I am doing internship as practical. One of the roles of a social worker is an educator. In my 2011 internship programme I had a group of primary school learners in Roodepoort Primary School which I facilitated. We had our sessions in a classroom setting where we discussed issues which they felt are challenging to them. Apart from a group, I had a one on one interaction with clients which were mostly learners from the school because the agency I was working with specialises with children and families.

Tutoring Approach:

As a tutor, I will empower the learner to take responsibility of their education. By so doing the learner can able to I and the tutee will plan how we are going to run our sessions. I will ask the tutee to come up with the subject he or she feel is challenging and we will go deeper in it to bring more understanding. Extra exercises will be given to the tutee to determine whether he or she understand the content of the subject.
