Personal Description:

I am competent IT Professional with over 14 years of practical work experience covering IT Security, IT Infrastructure Management, Systems & Network Administration domains. I have extensive knowledge in the following technologies: databases (Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle, Postgresql); Windows, Linux, Mac OSX systems administration and maintenance; IT Security (Ethical hacking using Kali Linux and Metasploit Framework, Operating System hardening); Networking (TCP/IP, OSI Model, Subnets, Network Devices, IP Addressing), Virtualisation (KVM and VMWare); Programming (Python); End-User computing. I am also a Maths enthusiast and as a result, I took some Mathematics modules as part of my first degree even though these courses were not compulsory for the degree programme that I studied. I have passion in sharing knowledge as I am a firm believer in the idea that the more you share what you know with people around you the more you extend your own knowledge. I hold the following qualifications: Masters in Information Technology (University of Pretoria, ZA); BSc (Honours) in Information Systems (MSU, ZW), Diploma in Oracle Database Administration and Networking (BCI, UK); Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP, USA); ITIL (USA).

Tutoring Experience:

- I tutored Computer Networks module for 4 years to second year University of South Africa (UNISA) students studying towards BSc Computer Science degree programme.
- I lectured Information System Strategy module to 3rd year students studying towards a Bachelors of IT in Business Systems degree programme at Rosebank College.
- I have taught many junior IT engineers/technicians on many different technologies throughout my work life.

Tutoring Approach:

- Practical-oriented (teaching by doing).
- Set up practical labs .
- Start from bottom up (making sure the students have grasped the basic knowledge required to fully comprehend a topic/subject/concept at hand).
- Frequent engagement with my students throughout the delivery of the tutorials/lessons.
- Allocation of assignments to reinforce learning.
- Assessments and providing meaningful feedback to the students on their performance.
- Face-to-Face or Online via Skype depending on the agreement struck between the student and myself.
