Personal Description:

I am a well-educated (University of Cape Town alumni), first-language English speaker who gets on with everyone. I am fun and friendly and enjoy meeting new people, and I also really love sharing my knowledge with others! My hobbies include reading, writing (my biggest skill as well), hiking and drawing.

Tutoring Experience:

I have prior experience as a home tutor for AS level English. I have had no paid work as an ESL teacher, but my intensive TEFL course involved teaching students twice a week, giving 1-hour lessons, so I have experience with that too.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to use worksheets, games and board work to teach students. The lessons are interactive and I aim for them to not be overly teacher-led (i.e. not lectures), but conversational so that learners can get practice speaking English. Lessons will also include writing and homework may be given. I want to combine learning with fun as I believe this keeps students engaged and more able to absorb information. I tailor lessons to be appropriate to the English level of the student while also pushing them.
