Personal Description:
My name is Tahire . I am a mother of three. The baby of the three is still at school in Year 10. I migrated from Samoa nearly 30 years ago with the purpose of furthering my education. I went to Avondale College for my Years 11 to 13. I went back to Samoa and taught there for four years. I am a very committed Christianity with my callings mostly with the Youth and children. I love teaching; it is my passion.
Tutoring Experience:
I taught in Samoa for four years before planning to come to NZ to further my education. I have been teaching Mathematics at Auckland Girls' Grammar School for 23 years starting in 2002. I love teaching and engaging with the girls. I love the bonding I have had with my colleagues and how we shared experiences and resources.
I have learnt a lot from my time as a teacher. I attended many Professional development courses to upskill myself.
Tutoring Approach:
The way I teach is I explain the tasks and give examples (and explain) so the kids understand then give time to students for practice. I teach students to understand and how to relate Mathematics to real life situations. I sometimes challenge the kids' understanding by giving them harder tasks.
