Personal Description:

I have recently moved over from the UK with my whanau (my husband is a New Zealander and we have a young son) and I would love to continue my passion of teaching while living in NZ.

Tutoring Experience:

I have been teaching in Secondary Education in England, Years 7 - 11, for 9 years with many wonderful experiences of helping students achieve their potential, encouraging students through practice to believe in themselves - watching their confidence grow is the best part of my "job" and of course learning new ways myself of teaching different concepts to be able to cater to all.

Tutoring Approach:

Just like in the classroom, I like to allow the students to show me how much they know first in a range of explorative mathematical exercises. I cater the session to the students immediately from that point with a range of preplanned activities. I like to make sure the students practice questions to check their skills and understanding of the questions, but I am a firm believer that this part can be made fun with BINGO activities, "treasure hunt" style games and more. With students who are coming up to their exams, past paper practice is important to again build their confidence, but we always have time for the other activities too - I want the students to ENJOY what they are doing and have FUN.
