I have been the Head of Mathematics at three high schools in New Zealand, Rutherford High School, Auckland Grammar School, and Macleans College. I was also the Deputy Headmaster at Saint Kentigern College. In 2014 and 2015, I was in charge of teaching computing at Motueka High School, near Nelson, New Zealand. I have retired from teaching at schools and devote my time now to tutoring, writing and computing.
Earlier in my life, I represented New Zealand in weightlifting at the Commonwealth and Olympic Games.
In 2011, I was fortunate enough to be honoured with the Jim Campbell Award for Teaching Excellence.
I have many years of teaching experience at six different schools, at three of which I was head of mathematics.
I am very patient with all my students. I accept that students may find anything difficult or hard to remember. I can cater for any ability level, from those who find the subject very difficult to those who are gifted.I keep very thorough notes of any lesson and am particularly keen to help those with assignments, assessments, and examinations. I am happy and experienced with online teaching. I can cater for as many as 5 students at one time online, provided they are of equal ability and doing the same work. With more than one pupil, I still charge the same hourly fee. This means that a session with two students sees the fee for each halved.
