Personal Description:

Sehr geehrte Interessenten,

I have moved to NZ after having spend 20 years in Hannover, Germany and completed most of my education over there.

Having been in German kindergarten, primary and secondary school as well as completed a traditional 3-year German dual apprenticeship in the banking industry, I have retained not only my German accent but also all my vocabulary and knowledge of grammar & spelling but also some fun bits like poetry analysis and what to say and not to say when at the German pub.

Earlier this year I have moved from Christchurch to Dunedin and currently focus most of my time on completing my study load for a Bachelor Degree in Applied Management through distance learning.

My first language is actually Russian, though my family left Kazakhstan just before I turned 4, therefore, my German is the stronger language of those two.

Tutoring Experience:

Whilst still in secondary school in Germany, I took on my first role as a private tutor for primary school kids. During my apprenticeship I took on a role on the apprentice representation committee which included running workshops on different topics for the fresh starters. Over the past few years, I have worked as a branch manager in charge of a small team of individuals in different roles. This job requires ongoing training in different areas, mentoring and nurturing my team and teaching them what it takes to evolve not only as a team but also as individuals.

Tutoring Approach:

No one fits all, therefore, I believe in assessing the situation and making a plan from there. Learning a language is all about the exposure and getting comfortable being immersed in it. Vocabulary, grammar and spelling are important, yes, but one first needs to get a taste of it through different means (conversation, music, videos, magazines, games, books) to being able to get down to the nitty-gritty.
