Personal Description:

Margaret is a well respected and experienced teacher of pianoforte, musical knowledge and theory. Originally from the UK, Margaret was a concert pianist. Margaret works well with children of all ages, and also has mature students.
Margaret has previously been an examiner for the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM), and for the NZ Music Examinations Board

Tutoring Approach:

Margaret teaches both piano practical and theory together, her approach makes the theory particularly understandable and easy (Four part harmony is made ‘easy ‘ ) and once you ‘get’ the theory you find the practical also so much easier! I have seen Margaret teach a pupil in one lesson to play half a page of music off-by-heart seeing it for the very first time. It is amazing, your child comes out of the lesson an hour or half an hour later sounding totally different than when they went in.
Margaret says, playing it once right is far better than practising something a hundred times wrong. Margaret doesn’t support slavish repetition and lengthy mindless practising.

Currently Margaret is looking to take on more theory and musical knowledge students. Margaret is based in the Auckland CBD. However depending on the arrangements Margaret could also teach pianoforte
