Personal Description:
Greetings, my name is Lee. I am a current teacher working in an Auckland school. As a result of this, I am fully up to date with all of the standards currently offered in Science and Maths, and their intricacies. This means that I am fully aware of exactly what is required for each standard to gain grades at Achieved, Merit and Excellence.
Whether a student is looking for Excellence to go to a university course of their choosing, or struggling to pass a subject to get into a course of their choosing, I have experience in helping a variety of students achieve their goals.
Tutoring Experience:
I have taught the NZ curriculum since arriving in 2015 at an Auckland school.
I have also taught for 3 years in England, so I am familiar with the Cambridge GCSE and A-Level system. During this time, I also briefly taught the IB (International Baccalaureate) in Physics up to Y13 level.
Tutoring Approach:
Having taught the NZ curriculum for a number of years, I am excellent at condensing down the relevant information into manageable, bite-sized chunks. I also have the ability to quickly ascertain a student's comprehension of what I have taught, and adjust what I am saying accordingly.
Having previously been an engineer, I have used this to help in my tutoring. I have developed systems of learning that have been perfected through trial and error with the various classes that I have previously taught. This means you will be getting a tutor that will be able to immediately hit the ground running to help achieve whatever goal you have in mind.
I also have the knack for figuring out very quickly what works for a student. Some struggle with the pressure of expectation, rather than actually understanding the content. Some need added motivation in the form of competition to hold them accountable. I have worked with a whole range of students, and have a tool kit of experiences to draw upon which is hard to develop without having been in a classroom and exposed to helping a huge range of students.
If you feel I can help, please do not hesitate to get in contact.
