Personal Description:

Hi there,
My name is Elvira and I am a 3rd year student at Unitec.
I have been living in New Zealand for 14 years now and am as fluent in English as if I have always lived here (it was one of my best subjects at school).
Despite how many subjects I can teach and to the high levels, I am actually a practicing artist and am even studying it.
Additionally, I have a British nuanced accent. All my students have said it's so much easier to understand than a Kiwi one and I am very glad they consider it a bonus!

Tutoring Experience:

As of September 2021, I have over 200 of in person and online tutoring experience. I tutor for two companies, this site and as a freelance by word of mouth. I thoroughly enjoy watching students improve and gain confidence in subjects they previously struggled with. My students include adults, learning English as a second language, those with learning disabilities AND difficulties as well as students just starting out in school.

I started out tutoring my own brother (from the age of 10) who needed a lot of help with his learning difficulties, including but not limited to dyslexia and dyspraxia.
I also started tutoring in my spare time at school, both for students doing subjects I'd already done and in helping International Students improve their written, spoken and read English.

Tutoring Approach:

My tutoring style is 100% dependent on the student I have. How you learn, what your requirements are, your goals, confidence and commitment, right down to your gender, ethnicity and age. Everybody is exceptionally unique and no two students I have taught have been the same.
So, I use a number of teaching styles and I experiment with each until I find a combination that works for a specific student.

I aim to be just as encouraging as I am creative and adaptable as I am reliable. I'd say I definitely have passion!
