Information About Dylan - Howick tutor
I'm a guitar teacher, specialising in jazz guitar tuition and improvisation (although I do take on other students too).
Recently arrived in Auckland from the UK, I have played and taught professionally for the last 16 years. This has included performing extensively in the UK at jazz clubs and festivals (with my own bands and others), together with numerous gigs in Boston.
I have been fortunate enough to have studied with some truly inspirational world-renowned teachers, including Mick Goodrick, Hal Crook, David Tronzo, Richie Hart and Tim Miller, and I owe a huge debt to all of them in my approach to playing and teaching jazz.
Lessons include all materials and an MP3 recording.
My website **Web Address Removed** has more information, and please get in touch if you've got any questions.
In London I taught at the Institute of Contemporary Music performance (”Europe’s finest school of modern music”), together with a number of high-profile UK schools, over the last 16 years. I have taught hundreds of private students ranging from 5-year old beginners through to advanced adults studying jazz improvisation.
My approach to jazz guitar tuition is to work from repertoire (jazz standards). Any theory knowledge is acquired as you need it, meaning firstly that you get into playing the music faster, and secondly that you are actually able to use any theory you learn (rather than just knowing it intellectually). We study classic solos, develop comping skills and work on fresh and exciting improvisation concepts.
