Personal Description:
I am a qualified and experienced Spanish high school teacher, based in Auckland. I am a Kiwi but have lived in Spanish speaking countries for over 12 years. I am fluent, having done some of my schooling in Spain. I have since studied Spanish at Massey University and return to Spain every few years to brush up on my language skills. I am also learning French so know how frustrating it can be at times learning a language but love the challenge.
Tutoring Experience:
I have been teaching Spanish in high school to Years 7-13 for the past 12 years. Have also tutored children and adults in private classes.
Tutoring Approach:
My philosophy is that in order for a class to be effective, it must be relative and engaging for the student. That is why I always try to make my classes interesting, through the use of a range of resources. It is important to have motivation and perseverance in order to make progress in learning a language.

She is flexible and prompt on time. I would highly recommend to anyone.
From our experience, Debbie has three ideal background qualifications:
1/ As a non-native speaker, she has 'been there, done that" and learned Spanish herself, so she understands the challenges, tricks and pathway well.
2/ Debbie lived for a long period in Spain and is fully fluent.
3/ Lastly, but most importantly, she is also qualified teacher actively teaching Spanish in the classroom.
Debbie has been working with our Year 10 son for 4 months now, he thoroughly enjoys working with her and is reaping the benefits of her style and engagement. Debbie checks in with the current in-school lessons and tests, and works to complement these.
As a result our boy is rapidly catching and passing students in his class with 2+ more years learning on him, but more noticeable is his love of the language and use everyday. 'Little brother' will be signing up soon as well.
Highly recommended!
