Personal Description:
Hello! I'm Alice
A current secondary school teacher trainee. I completed my bachelor of arts at the University Of Auckland and post graduate diploma at the Auckland University Of Technology. I'm dedicated to teaching students how to express themselves through acting and other performance arts. I'm very passionate about drama, and my goal is to help students develop their creativity, communication skills, and confidence through drama exercises, improvisation, and scripted performances including curriculum learning. Teaching plays an important role in helping students develop the language and communication skills they need to succeed academically and in their personal and professional lives.
Tutoring Experience:
I have a background in theatre, acting and skilled in teaching techniques such as voice projection, body movement, and character development. I have experience working as an actor and have pursued formal theatre arts, film and literary education. I have completed an initial secondary school placement teaching NCEA subjects English, Drama and Media from year levels 8-13.
Tutoring Approach:
In addition to teaching technical skills, I am also responsible for creating a supportive and safe environment in which my students can explore their emotions and creativity. They encourage students to take risks and step out of their comfort zones, helping them to build self-esteem and develop interpersonal skills. I can design and deliver instructional materials, assessments, and activities that help students develop their language skills. This may include teaching grammar and syntax, building vocabulary, improving reading comprehension, and developing writing skills. I've also help students develop an appreciation for literature by introducing them to a variety of genres, including poetry, drama, and fiction. They may analyze and interpret literary works with their students, helping them understand the historical, cultural, and social contexts in which they were written.
