Personal Description:

Hi guys, I am an experienced French and Spanish tutor based in Dublin but now giving grinds online.

I am beginning to organise my schedule for the year. I am completing the second year of my PME (Professional Masters in Education) so have limited slots for this school year - please don't hesitate to contact me ASAP if you are interested!

Tutoring Experience:

Hi,
My name is Sorcha and I have over seven years experience giving grinds in both languages and am currently 1 year into my Masters in Education to become a secondary school teacher.

I received an A1 in French in my leaving cert and a B1 in Spanish (which I started in 5th year). Since then I have lived in Madrid, Paris, Seville and Valencia, including teaching English and French to Spanish children and working as an attraction operator in Disneyland Paris!
I graduated from UCD in 2019 with a first class honours in Modern Languages, majoring in French and Spanish. In my grinds career so far I have taught primary school children up to University level students. I have worked with students with additional learning needs and those aiming for top grades in state exams.
I have worked as a language assistant in St. Michael’s College and completed my first year placement at Alexandra College, Dublin. I have also – and am currently – acting as sole teacher for two students who, for different reasons, cannot study their desired language in school.

I offer grinds to all levels and abilities from primary school to University level.
Primary school - 3rd year : €25/hour
4th year - 6th year : €30/hour
University level : €35/hour

Each grind lasts an hour and usually are once a week. If students are studying outside school they typically attend two hour long classes per week.

To limit unnecessary exposure (and as I will be working in a school) I will be continuing with online grinds only this year. They have been working excellently so far and open up the class to more technology use which is very beneficial for languages.

Approach to Grinds:

Every student is different. I think especially with languages everyone picks them up in different ways. My first goal is to see how much the student knows and how they view and learn languages. I have worked with students with minor and major learning difficulties and have learnt a huge amount about second language acquisition in the process.

Huge emphasis will be put on the oral exam for all leaving certificate students.
