Personal Description:
I am a 25 year old PME (professional masters of education) student. I have a BA in History and Irish Studies from UCD, Irish Studies gives me the opportunity to study modules in the Irish language and those modules which belong to the School of English which strengthens my abilities to teach both Irish and English as well as History. I am from Donegal, therefore I am most comfortable with Donegal Irish, this would mean I would be able to help with the difficult parts of the listening exam which are in Donegal Irish. I also studied a module in UCD 'Intro to English Language Teaching'. This basically teaches you how to teach English to someone who cannot speak the language, rather than teaching junior/leaving cert English.
Tutoring Experience:
I have been giving junior and leaving cert grinds in English and History for 5 years and also junior cert Irish grinds. I have been giving grinds in both Donegal and Dublin.
Approach to Grinds:
I usually give weekly grinds, however, it depends on each students preference. I pick a topic a week to discuss with the student, do out notes that will help the student and the start of the following week I test the student on the material to make sure they understand it. I like to do out a study plan for the student also which makes sure that they get all the material covered.
