Personal Description:
***I am the highest rated Science/Chemistry/GAMSAT tutor on First Tutors***
As a practising medical doctor with degrees from Trinity College Dublin and the University of Limerick, I bring a strong academic and professional background in Medicine, Biochemistry, and Pharmacology to my tutoring. I hold a First-Class Honours degree in Biochemistry, a PhD in Pharmacology, and a Bachelor of Medicine & Surgery.
My track record of success includes helping over 100 students gain entry into medical school through expert GAMSAT preparation. Most recently, my students achieved outstanding results in the September 2024 and March 2025 GAMSAT sittings — many scoring well above the required threshold and now holding firm offers for graduate medicine. My personal GAMSAT score of 76 (first attempt) and extensive experience as both a tutor and examiner put me in a strong position to guide you through your own journey.

With a personalised approach, a wealth of academic resources, and a track record of success, I’m committed to helping you meet — and exceed — your goals.
Tutoring Experience:
With over 12 years of experience in teaching and tutoring, I’ve worked with students across a wide range of academic levels, both individually and in group settings. My background includes time spent as a university lecturer and as a private tutor, allowing me to support students in ways that are both structured and personalised.
Early in my academic career, I spent two years lecturing in Biochemistry and Biology at Trinity College Dublin. I also taught undergraduate practical labs in these subjects for four years, which gave me the chance to help students build confidence through hands-on learning.
For the past nine years, I’ve focused primarily on one-to-one tutoring in Biology, Biochemistry, and Medicine. This work has allowed me to adapt my teaching to the needs of each individual student, helping many improve their understanding and academic performance.
Through First Tutors, I’ve supported over 200 students in a wide range of subjects, including research skills, essay writing, and study techniques. I place a strong emphasis on helping students become more independent and confident learners, with a focus on long-term academic development.
In addition to private tutoring, I’ve lectured in Enzymology and Drug Design at the Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT), experiences which have broadened my subject knowledge and shaped my teaching style.
Now working as a Senior House Officer, I bring clinical experience into my teaching. This practical perspective helps bridge the gap between academic content and its real-world application, especially for students in health and life sciences.
Each tutoring engagement has helped shape my approach, and I continue to learn and adapt so I can support students in a way that works best for them.
Approach to Grinds:
I like to bring a solid foundation in the theory followed by an interactive approach to practical learning. A solid understanding beats learning off by heart. I try to mix things up a small bit in grinds to make them less of a slog and have been told by many students that I'm very easygoing. For repeat exams I like to focus on specific exam question preparation and will help the students formulate answers to exam questions. I think a solid approach to logical reasoning skills really helps GAMSAT preparation.
Ultimately I really enjoy tutoring and I strive to make every session as enjoyable as possible.

I struggled for months to find a tutor who could handle my advanced pharmacology modules, but Chris stepped up and took them head-on. His deep knowledge and ability to simplify complex topics made a huge difference in my understanding. I never once felt nervous starting a new section because I knew Chris had complete control over the material, which made me feel confident and at ease.
What makes Chris stand out even more is his wide range of teaching methods, perfectly tailored to different learning styles. As a mature student with dyslexia, I found his analogies and explanations invaluable—they just clicked with me. He works fast but always slows down if he notices you're struggling, showing remarkable patience. He helps you find the gaps in your knowledge while also completing each session's agenda efficiently.
Highly organized and dedicated, Chris never wasted a minute, and every session was worth it. I can say without hesitation that he’s worth every cent. If you’re looking for someone who’s knowledgeable, fun, and completely dedicated to your success, Chris is your guy, BIG TIME! You won’t regret choosing him as your tutor!
I ended up getting a 70 in my exam, couldn't have done it without his help. Aside from that, I got on really well with him and actually had a lot of fun during the grinds. Couldn't recommend Chris highly enough!
After cancelling our session at short notice on the day we were scheduled to meet, Christopher explained to me that he has been very ill this week which I was unaware of and I don't want to put extra strain on him but I would like to try and make contact with another tutor to commence getting lessons.
Michelle was made aware at the start of the week that I was very ill and might not make grinds this week which she accepted and wished me to get better soon. Again, none of my other students have had an issue with me rearranging scheduled grinds. Understandably this feedback comes as a bit of a shock. I have wished her well in her search for an alternative tutor.
And im extremely mad at this behavior.
