Personal Description:

With a solid background in medicine, biochemistry, and pharmacology, I, a practising medical doctor with degrees from The University of Limerick and Trinity College Dublin, offer extensive and in-depth tutoring services across various scientific domains. My academic accomplishments include a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery, a first-class honours degree in Biochemistry, and a PhD in Pharmacology.

My expertise spans several academic topics at the university level including Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biology, Medicine, Physiology, Microbiology, and Immunology, among others. For those preparing for the Leaving Cert, I offer targeted lessons in Biology, Chemistry, and Maths.

In addition to standard courses, I specialise in medical tutoring and GAMSAT preparation. Having achieved a score of 76 in the GAMSAT myself in my first attempt, I have successfully guided over 50 students through the process, all of whom are now studying Medicine. Tutoring Experience:

Boasting over 12 years of robust experience in academia, I've served as both a private tutor and a university lecturer, nurturing the academic growth of hundreds of students in one-on-one as well as group settings.

In the early phase of my teaching career, I spent two fulfilling years lecturing in Biochemistry and Biology at Trinity College Dublin. Here, I discovered my passion for enlightening students on the intricacies of life sciences. Alongside this, I guided students through hands-on learning during my four years as an instructor in Undergraduate Biology and Biochemistry labs at the same institution.

For the past seven years, my teaching focus has been on tutoring students in Biology, Biochemistry, and Medicine. This has allowed me to customise my tutoring methods to meet individual student needs, leading to significant improvements in their academic performance.

Throughout my decade-long journey in education, I've provided grinds to students of all levels. My comprehensive grinds portfolio spans across a multitude of disciplines and includes over 180 successful engagements through First Tutors, a well-recognised platform in the tutoring space.

In addition to this, I've regularly imparted crucial academic skills that transcend beyond specific subjects. I've taught research skills, essay writing, and study skills, recognising their importance in fostering well-rounded students who are equipped to take on any academic challenge.

Currently, as a Senior House Officer, my real-world, professional experience in the medical field reinforces my academic teaching, enabling me to offer practical insights and apply theoretical concepts to real-life scenarios. This blend of academia and practice enriches my students' learning experiences, providing them with a well-rounded perspective.

To date, my teaching experience spans over a decade, during which time I've had the privilege of mentoring over 200 students on First Tutors. Each of these experiences has enriched my teaching practice, continually shaping my approach to education to ensure every student I tutor can reach their full academic potential."

Approach to Grinds:

I like to bring a solid foundation in the theory followed by an interactive approach to practical learning. A solid understanding beats learning off by heart. I try to mix things up a small bit in grinds to make them less of a slog and have been told by many students that I'm very easygoing. For repeat exams I like to focus on specific exam question preparation and will help the students formulate answers to exam questions. I think a solid approach to logical reasoning skills really helps GAMSAT preparation.

Ultimately I really enjoy tutoring and I strive to make every session as enjoyable as possible.
