Personal Description:

Hi! I’m Bryan. I’m a Maths and Physics tutor with a Research Master’s in Theoretical Physics from the UvA with the equivalent of a 1:1 - a leading institute for physics research in the EU! I started my studies in UL where I took Maths and Physics and graduated with a 1:1. Whether you want to understand the subject better or score top marks, I'll help get you there! In my spare time I like to practice brazillian jiu-jitsu, rock-climb and also lift weights!

Tutoring Experience:

I have been tutoring Junior and Leaving Cert since 2017 when I started my BsC, and University level since 2022 when I started my MsC. consistently helping students build confidence, improve their understanding, and achieve excellent results — with a 100% pass rate since I began teaching, with all students improving at least a grade, and many by 2+.

Approach to Grinds:

I focus on developing real understanding rather than the rote learning style often used in schools, which can make Maths and Physics feel dull. My aim is to give students a clear grasp of concepts that they can apply to a wide range of problems.

Lessons start by identifying what the student is struggling with. If the standard method doesn’t work, I introduce alternative approaches until it fully clicks. I put a strong emphasis on exam-style questions, with hints and guidance gradually tapered down as confidence grows. Alongside this, I teach effective exam techniques—what to look for in a question, and how to secure marks even if a concept hasn’t fully landed.

Most lessons are 1.5 hours, though I’m flexible with shorter (1 hr) or longer (2 hr) sessions depending on the student’s preference. My teaching style is calm and easy-going; I’ve found that a relaxed environment is key for concentration and steady progress.

I’ve taught senior cycle (Leaving Certificate) Maths and Physics the most, and I know the curriculum and exam style very well. I’ve also worked with Junior Cycle students to build a strong foundation, and with university students at Bachelor’s and Master’s level. At university level, I support students with core mathematics and physics modules, thesis preparation, and developing real understanding of complex material, not just rote solutions.
