Personal Description:

When I completed my schooling, I was fortunate to get admitted into Manipal Institute of Technology, Asia’s largest technical institution, for a bachelor’s degree in 2009. While studying here, I was inspired by the boom in the e-commerce industry, driven by technology. I have always taken an interest in new experiences and this motivated me to learn computer languages such as JAVA, Magento and PHP with an aim of developing an e-commerce software of my own. Within a span of one year, I was able to release my product on an e-commerce website in the market and since then, I saw a steady increase in the number of users. The confidence I had in my platform and the elevation in its usage prompted me to quit my education and devote my time to this business. However, a few years down the line, many e-commerce giants with more advanced technology in place came into the picture. This was when my platform saw a downfall. This unforeseen fall of my business made me realise the importance of formal education and keeping myself updated with the latest advances in technology. With this realisation, I seized the second opportunity I got to start an undergraduate degree in Information Technology from Easwari Engineering College.
The failure of the business motivated me to start exploring MOOCs for courses on advanced technologies like Software Development, Business Modelling, Operation Management and I was blown away by the knowledge I inherited. This made me understand my knack for analytics and I started working on a project ‘Demand-based Blue Collared Job Allocation using Multiple Priorities and Heuristics’. This project was aimed at eradicating a social problem through the use of analytics. This was also submitted to the Government of India for funding purposes. In September 2016, I presented this paper at the IEEE International Conference on Knowledge Engineering and Applications held at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.
With the erudition and pragmatic skills acquired from my under-graduation, I started working for DBS Bank, Singapore. I am part of Data Science team in Core System and Technology Division developing POC projects and applications for Self Service Banking. My core responsibility includes architecture design, constructing models, and testing for various forecasting and optimization models for ATM, BTM, and CRS transactions developing modules in python for time series forecasting developing a robust algorithm for 2000+ ATM machine for field optimization. My role was interesting because I was able to interact with the business users to understand their requirement and optimization logics during migration from legacy system to open source and on an experimental basis we even capitalized on Spark and Hadoop technologies for rapid deployment.

Tutoring Experience:

Taught science and computers to high school students in India.

Approach to Grinds:

I think individual attention is required for every student and group studies should focus on the overall development of personality and interpersonal skills.
I believe that class discussions should be such that it should relate to some of the practicality as well so that the students should be able to understand the concepts better.
Explanations which are provided in the class should be enough for conceptual clarity.
