Personal Description:

Hi, I’m Bobby, an Engineering student at Trinity College Dublin with a deep passion for Maths and Science. In engineering, the emphasis on maths and its practical application in everyday life is huge and this gives us an edge when it comes to passing on this knowledge. As well as getting full marks on my Leaving Certificate, I achieved 100% in Higher Level Maths.

In my spare time, I enjoy playing the guitar, painting, and playing football.

Tutoring Experience:

Over the past two years, as well as working as a waiter, I have given Maths grinds to family friends, all of who I've helped improve their results. I also occasionally teach the guitar (if you're looking), which has positively helped me improve my teaching skills.

Approach to Grinds:

During a lesson, I like to have a good balance of me explaining how and why something works and the students demonstrating they understand by attempting past exam questions. In my experience, doing past paper questions is the most effective way to improve, as it forces you to become more familiar with what will be on the paper.

Students tend to nod along and claim they understand what's being taught to them, even if they don't. To prevent this, I like to constantly stop and question the student, to ensure they get it. If a student is having a particularly hard time understanding a topic, I do my best to present the information most easily and understandably as possible.

As a recent Secondary School graduate, I am very familiar with the exam content; I know what to look out for and what the examiners want to see.
